Production Support Engineers Needed in the United Kingdom 2025

GE Aerospace, formerly known as GE Aviation, is a prominent American manufacturer of aircraft engines and integrated systems for commercial, military, business and general aviation aircraft. The company’s origins trace back to 1917 when General Electric (GE) developed a turbosupercharger, enhancing aircraft performance at higher altitudes. This innovation marked GE’s initial foray into aviation technology, laying the foundation for its future endeavors in the aerospace sector.

In 1941, GE’s Lynn, Massachusetts plant was selected by the United States Army Air Corps to develop the nation’s first jet engine, based on designs by Britain’s Sir Frank Whittle. The following year, GE’s I-A engine powered the Bell XP-59A Airacomet, America’s inaugural jet aircraft, signifying a pivotal moment in U.S. aviation history.

Throughout the subsequent decades, GE Aviation expanded its product portfolio, introducing notable engines such as the J47 in the late 1940s and the CF6 in the 1970s. The company also established strategic partnerships including the formation of CFM International in 1974 – a 50/50 joint venture with France’s Safran Aircraft Engines – resulting in the highly successful CFM56 engine series.

In 2022, reflecting its broadened focus beyond aircraft engines, GE Aviation rebranded as GE Aerospace. This transition was part of a larger corporate restructuring, culminating in April 2024 when GE Aerospace became the standalone entity succeeding the original General Electric Company, following the spinoffs of GE HealthCare and GE Vernova.

Today, GE Aerospace operates as a publicly traded company under the leadership of Chair and CEO H. Lawrence Culp Jr. Headquartered in Evendale, Ohio, the company employs approximately 53,000 individuals as of 2024 and continues to be a leading provider of jet and turboprop engines, along with integrated systems for various aviation sectors.
